Many Bloggers are selling ad space on the blogs by putting up "your ad here" buttons, have you done this? What are your thoughts? And how much do you charge?

REMEMBER: We will NOT be doing a contest tomorrow, but will be keeping up our winners from last week.

  1. I've jumped into the world of advertising, but I'm very selective about my sponsors. They have to be selling a product I love and support.

My main focus for selling advertising is really just a way to support my blogging habit. What I mean is, by generating a little bit of money through advertising, I can afford to pay for blog design, subscriptions on photo sharing sites, etc.

  2. I haven't, but I am very interested in how it works, and what some general rules are for pricing.

  3. I haven't done this. I have seen some ads on "Christian" women blogs that made me raise an eyebrow. I don't want to take that risk.

  4. I choose not to accept advertising, because of the way I have my blog set up in 3-columns. I feel I utilize my space to best feature my posts. If I added advertisements, it would only contribute to the visual clutter. In essence, that would detract from my posts. Good questions! :o)

  5. I haven't... & I don't really plan to. I just like to blog- I guess I don't really think about the money I could be making.

  7. I do have ad space on my blog, although I did take down the "Your Ad here" buttons. Instead I put a brief message to business in my About Me tab and will send them a media kit offering button sizes and pricing.

I do not have enough traffic to charge a lot for my ads so I typically charge $10 for a 125x125 ad for one month. I'm just starting so I don't really have much to say.

Making some extra cash is a way to help get us out of debt (albeit very slowly!) but it's a start. I eventually want to move to Wordpress.org but do not want to spend much out of pocket for it.

  8. Me again... I did see some questionable add on my Christian sight after I added ad-sense, so I removed ad-sense. I try to be VERY careful about what I post AND who I follow... I do not want to be linked to anything that could hurt my witness. However, thought I do like to blog, my blog is about being more like the Proverbs 31 Woman, and she was financially savvy... I think selling advertising on my blog is one way that I personally can help earn extra money for my family and help get us out of debt...
