I love participating in Blog Hops and Blog Parties that those I already follow have. I also love my Memes because I get to go and visit and leave comments and find other great blogs to read. I also am famous for looking at all of the blog rolls of the current blogs I follow to find other lovely blogs to read!
ReplyDeleteI like the blog hops, though it's hard to find like-minded blogs that way. I have learned it's better to be discerning with the Follow-Me-and-I'll-Follow-You blog hops. There is some crazy stuff out there on the web! :o) Just reading other blogs and checking their blog rolls has been effective in gaining new readers. You have to leave comments if you want someone to read your blog. People are naturally curious who is reading their blog. They will most likely respond and check your blog too. Happy Thursday!

I main 2 ways are participating in Blog Hops and memes (I am very selective though). I also check out the blogroll of blogs that I follow.
ReplyDeleteI focus on encouraging participation on my blog by posting two weekly link-ups: What's Cooking Wednesday (a cooking/recipe link-up), and The Artist's Eye (an art/photo link-up). I also write for a couple other blogs and gain readers and fellow blog friends through that. I like blog hops, but I don't gain "readers" as much there as I do with the link-ups. BUT that is just my experience. (And I am not saying that I don't do hops, I still have gained some good blogger friends and a few readers.)
ReplyDeleteI do a couple of blog hops, but weed through the titles until I find something that hints that we may be like-minded. I am not interested in following people just to get a follow back. I am looking for like-minded women for encouragement and edification. I have found some wonderful blog friends.
ReplyDeleteComment, Comment, Comment! And then reply to all the comments I get! It takes time to make bloggy friends, you just have to be consistent! Kind of like internet stalking! :)
ReplyDeleteI love memes & blog hops!! They are fun. I love visiting blogs & reading everyone's "about me". Even if I don't follow them, most blogs have a way to know who is stopping by for a visit - even if I don't comment on anything. (Blog Frog, FeedJit, etc) I am kinda excited, I just found another blog hop for Thursdays. All the other hops I participate in are on Fridays. These end of the week blog hops I use all weekend to visit as many blogs as I can :) I did just find out through a friend though, that blogger only lets you follow a total of 300 blogs. I am wondering - what to do after that? What if I find a blog that I really, really want to follow another one?
ReplyDeleteHmmm???
Besides blog carnivals like Friday Follow, etc...my favorite way is just to start at one blog and then "hop" along using their "Blog Frog" or their comment section, etc. I've found a lot of my favorite reads that way!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my site thru the Nestwork!
ReplyDeleteI love Blog Hops! And then spending time going through other blogs and commenting almost always draws someone to your blog to find out what you are all about. The start of a bloggy friend is just a click away!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy visiting others' blogs, actually READING & commenting! I do Blog hops too, but am very cautious... I don't just follow someone because they follow me, I want to make sure that I will be able to "invest" in their blog & in them at least a little!

This is a very interesting question, and the responses have been helpful to read. I think I went overboard following blogs thru these blog hop things, more than I could ever read! I'm going to try the blog roll approach more now.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to connect more to other bloggers through places like blog frog and just today found some great "follow fridays."
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to make new friends and to connect with other bloggers that you have things in common with.
Jennifer, you are so right. I am an avid fan of family vacation. As I was growing up, my family always went on vacation. My parents had a family owned business, and worked really long hours, but taking a vacation was absolutely a must. It gave our family fond memories that are the glue that hold us together to this day. I have made it a priority for my own family, as as I reflect on my life, that was a rightly placed priority. My children are best friends, and now we all still vacation together.
