Back in the day, the farm was the family business. The whole family worked hard to make this business successful. In the world today, is the idea of a "family business" possible? Would you want it and how would it affect your children?

  1. I've always dreamed of having a family business; however, it's just that...a dream. For me, it's too idealistic. I wouldn't want my children to feel pressured to continue a business that was my dream. I want them to pursue their own dreams. After much praying, opening a family business is not what God has planned for me. At least, not in this season. :o) Good questions! Happy Tuesday!

  2. I think family businesses are great. It is a wonderful way to teach the kids responsibility and how to contribute to the family.

  3. I personally would love it! Love it when families Work together for a common goal. It just makes a family tighter. However, with that said, I do think that it depends on the parents. Have you seen the shows on tv like "Little People, Big World" or "American Choppers" Both of these shows are about families trying to make family businesses work. There is quite a bit of bickering and family members that don't exactly see the end goal with a family business. It does make me wonder if I'm teaching my kids to the best of my ability that we, as a family, are a TEAM!

  4. I like the idea of a family owned business, but I would not want my children to think they had to stay in the business if they choose another path.

  5. I think a family business would be wonderful in a lot of ways. I think it would be great to teach our children to work hard at everything they do.

  6. I truly believe that carrying on a Legacy such as a Family Business is so important for our Children. I want my son to grow up and see that his parents worked very hard to give him a future and that he can carry this on to his family from Generation to Generation until Christ Comes!

  7. i like the idea.
BUT i am married into a family business and it does us no good because the farm / business always comes first and our little family always misses out. i guess that must not always be the case, but if you grow up with only the family business and not outlook on anything else in life... well, in my eyes it does not end good.
