How do you think most people use twitter? To promote themselves or to build relationships?

  1. I don't know because I don't twitter. Blogging takes enough of my time.

  2. I think it depends on your followers. I see some self promotion, but I also see those that are interested in building relationships with other bloggers. Before I follow someone- even if they are following me- I read through some of their tweets, doesn't take a lot of time and gives me a 'feel' for what they are about. If I see a lot of self promotion or tweets that don't line up with my values I don't follow back.

  3. I have a twitter account, though I don't use it other than its connection to my blog. I guess that's self-promotion, huh? I figure most people use it that way too. I rarely see anything profound being said on Twitter. Usually, it's just links to blogs.

  4. I think mainly self-promotion, although it's almost evolved into a sort of chat device, like AIM!

  5. I am not sure. I don't use my Twitter very often, except to chat back and forth with other bloggers. I do promote my blog on there as well.

  6. I'm not sure that it is either for me. I love Twitter! I guess I should say it can be a little bit of both self promotion and building relationships, but its also such a great place for learning from those that you never would have come into contact with. You know, Mentors,Hero's, etc. It's how I found a lot of inspiration and encouragement. Its how I found Allied Moms!

  7. I was using Twitter before I had a blog, so I definitely STARTED tweeting as a way to connect to other people. Nowadays I also use it to promote my blog, but it's still more for building and maintaining relationships.
